Engineering Plastics
ABS - Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (can you say that?) is available in a variety of grades and sheet sizes. Engineering stock is typically 24"x48" and up to 6" thick in standard, 25% glass filled, Static Dissipative, and Conductive formulations. Commercial grades run from 1/16" to 1/4" thick in 48x96 sheets with a haircell texture in one side. There are virgin (all uses) and reprocessed (not for forming) grades. Of course, there are rods, tubes and shapes as well.

Nylon - one of the original wonder plastics (besides applications for fishing line and women's hose), nylon is self lubricating and has excellent wear resistance. Engineering stock is typically 24"x48" and up to 6" thick in standard, 25% glass filled, and molybdenum-disulfide filled (Nylatron). Nylon normally is extruded (6/6) or as a Cast material (Nylon 6) in sheet, rod, tube and shapes.

Acetal - homopolymer - copolymer sheets (there's a difference between Delrin and Celcon) and there's extruded and compression molded grades of sheet. Acetals are like metal: stiff, dimensionally stable, strong and exhibit spring-like resiliency. In addition, acetals have lower moisture absorbtion as compared to nylon.

Micarta - Brand High Pressure Laminates from Westinghouse - G10 - Glass Epoxy, LE Linen/Phenolic Binder, CE - Canvas/Phenolic Binder in sheet, rods, and tube.

Rexolite - cross-linked polystyrene, great properties for use in microwave applications.

Teflon - "virgin" and "reprocessed" sheet and rod, and fiberglas filled.

UHMW - Sheets, rod and tubes available.  Excellent impact strength, low coefficient of friction and self-lubricating, abrasion resistant, as well as very good chemical resistance.  This industrial grade material is also stain, odor, and moisture resistant.  Approved for use in food processing equipment.  UHWM is ideally suited for wear applications especially when in contact with metals.
